On 18th February 2024, Mrs. Maya Ranavare recently visited the Baba Amte Kusht Ashram and the Anandavan Ashram in Nagpur, Maharashtra, where she had the opportunity to interact with San Vikas Amte and gain insight into the livelihood projects and services designed to benefit individuals and families affected by leprosy. Her visit was a testament to her compassion towards those who suffer from the disease and the need for community support. Throughout her visit, she was able to gain firsthand experience of the daily challenges and obstacles faced by these families and learned about the essential initiatives undertaken by the ashram.
Mrs Ranavare’s interaction with the individuals at the ashram enabled her to learn about the employment opportunities being generated and the various corresponding methods available to further support those affected by the disease. Her interest and support in this area have helped to generate awareness and encourage attitudinal changes in support of APAL and its vision for inclusivity and equitable living for individuals affected by leprosy. Overall, Mrs. Ranavare’s visit to the ashram reflects her deep commitment to the cause and demonstrates her dedication to supporting the affected individuals and families.
