World Leprosy Day 2020 in Maharashtra

Anti Leprosy Day celebrated at Ratnagiri leprosy colony of Maharashtra state on 30th January 2020 organized by Ms. Maya Ranaware- APAL Treasurer and her state team.

At the Damale Vidhyalaya School, 350 students have participated in the 5 km rally and the main roads are captured. The students actively participate in the Rally with banners, slogans, and Pla cards. Damale Vidhyalaya School staff and school teachers participated in rallies to guide the student.

Ratnagiri colony youths are given moral support to run peacefully without any interruption.  

Mr. Alimiya Kazi- Senior Journalist, Mr. Pradip – President of corporation Gonjare, Mr. Prakash Jadhav- School Principal has participated as guest of honor the rally ending the meeting

Mr. Sasakawa Gujarat Visit

WHO Goodwill Ambassador Elimination Leprosy and Chairman of the Nippon Foundation Mr. Yohie Sasakawa visited Gujarat state from 31 January 2020 to 4 February 2020.  Mr. Y. Sasakawa, Mr. Takahiro Nandri -Sasakawa Health Founder Director, Ms. Kiyomi – Program Director, Mr. Venu Gopal – Vice President APAL, Mr. Uday Thakar, Dr. Rashmi Shukla – WHO, Ms. Megha Ben, and Gujarat state leaders met Disability Commissioner Mr. B. G. Nenval at his office. And also they met Chief Secretary Health Madam, Ms. Jayanti Ravi, on 4 February 2020. The team submitted a memorandum to Disability Commissioner and Chief Secretary for land patta issues. They have assured will take necessary action for people affected by leprosy and their families land patta.

World Leprosy Day 2020 in Andhra Pradesh

Society of Leprosy Affected Person -Andhra Pradesh (SLAP-AP) organized WHDD 2020  Rally associate with LEPRA Society on 31  January 2020 at Jaggayapet, Krishna District from Sreemathi Gentile  Sakuntalamma (SGS) College to NTR Circle from 9.45 AM to 11.15 AM.

Sri. Udayabhanu Samineni – Jaggayyapeta MLA, Circle Inspector, Dr. Rajendra Prasad – State Leprosy Officer, Dr. Usha Rani – Additional Director, Mr. Ashim  Chawla – LEPRA CEO, Ms. M. Radhika-State Coordinator, Mr. D. Nageswara Rao-SLAP President, Mr. D. Prakash-APAL EC member, Mr. Krishna Reddy – SLAP Secretary, Hospital correspondent,  College Correspondent, Village volunteers, ASHA Work and various Government officials actively participate in the rally. In the rally there are 750 members were participated and the distance was covered 3 km.

In collaboration with Rising Star Outreach, the state committee Andhra Pradesh (SLAP-AP) distributed food grains

On the date of 6th September 2021, In collaboration with Rising Star Outreach, the state committee Andhra Pradesh (SLAP-AP) distributed food grains to 35 families of people affected by leprosy and their families in Narava New Leprosy Colony and 57 families in Bethsaida Leprosy Colony at Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh

On behalf of people affected by leprosy, APAL conveys deep gratitude to Rising Star Outreach for their great services to people affected continuously and this kind of support helps people to live without despair and perplexity
