On the 23rd of July in 2024, a significant event unfolded as the Griha Pravesh ceremony was conducted to commemorate the establishment of new homes for 256 families residing in three leprosy colonies in Ranchi: Indira Nagar, Nirmala, and Tapovan. The ceremony was honoured by the esteemed presence of the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Hemant Soren, who personally inaugurated the new homes, symbolizing hope and new beginnings for these families. This initiative marked a remarkable milestone in providing secure and dignified living conditions for individuals and families affected by leprosy.
The culmination of this event was the result of unwavering efforts by APAL’s State Committee in Jharkhand, which submitted a proposal to the Chief Minister advocating for the inclusion of these families in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Their dedication ensured that the voices of the underserved were heard and addressed. This successful initiative underscores the importance of advocacy and collaboration between governmental entities and social organizations.
This accomplishment not only brings stability and joy to the families involved but also establishes a precedent for future endeavours aimed at enhancing the lives of marginalized communities. The collaboration between APAL and the Jharkhand government is a testament to a shared commitment to social justice and empowerment, paving the way for sustained progress and support for those in need.
