On 20th October 2022, APAL’s president Mrs Maya Ranavare and General Secretary Mr. Sarang Gayadhane participated in ‘Youth Against Leprosy ‘, a regional youth festival to raise awareness about leprosy. The festival concluded on Monday and brought together youths from various leprosy colonies and from different colleges in the state and Maharashtra.
The festival provided a platform for non-leprosy backgrounds to mingle and interact with youth from leprosy colonies. These interactions were aimed at busting myths and creating social bridges among youth regarding leprosy.
S-ILF CEO Vivek Lal told media persons that the very objective behind the festival was to sensitize people about myths associated with leprosy and do away with the prevailing social bias against persons suffering from leprosy, bring them their social, and economic empowerment
