On 24th March 2023, APAL supported with Sasakawa Health Foundation in association with Disabled Peoples’ International (DPI) and the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) conducted an awareness program on leprosy at DY Patil College of Nursing in Kolhapur, Maharashtra

The continued delays in detecting new patients and persisting discrimination against people affected by leprosy and lack of awareness of the transmission of leprosy, the reveal of the reality and myths of the disease of leprosy, APAL conducting awareness programs in Schools and Colleges

In this awareness program, Dr. Deepak, Resource Person, Mrs. Maya Ranavare President APAL, Associate Professors Mr.Amous Talsandikar, Mr. Rohan Paphe, Mr.Suraj Chopde, and Tutor Ms. Saniya explained the disease of leprosy and related consequences physically and socially.

120 students from MSc, PBBSc, GNM, and BSc have actively participated and given their feedback that “Previously we knew about the disease of leprosy but after the lecture cleared all doubts and myths”.
